The Europäische Gesellschaft für Lackiertechnik e.V.
(EGL) was founded on March 13, 1996. Meanwhile it has nearly 200
members. The EGL addresses all specialists from the coating sector.
Industrial
coating technology has developed from a handicraft technique into
an engineering discipline with many high-tech feaures in a relatively
short period of time. Materials, processes, plants, and test methods
are subject to fast changes. Therefore, it is almost essential
to be well informed, have a good overview, know many specialists
in this sector, and most of all to have access to a central office
that works on technical problems.
The foundation
of the EGL made up for something that had long been considered
a shortage: The foundation of a professional association for industrial
coating technology with emphasis on the correlation of paint material,
process technology, and application closed a large gap. It was
clear from the beginning that this association would be open to
specialists from other countries due to the need and wish to think
European.
The DFO was
founded in 1949 and for the past 20 years the DFO has concentrated
on the following spectrum of services: joint research with know-how
exchange, further education and training, and technology consulting.
The DFO is based on the membership of companies and associations,
because the offered services, especially the federal promotion
of joint research, require a great deal of industrial sponsoring.
The Europäische
Gesellschaft für Lackiertechnik e.V. is based on the membership
of individual persons. Therefore, the mutual supplement of the
DFO and the Europäische Gesellschaft für Lackiertechnik
e.V.is practically ideal.
